Full Time Position: Photo/Digital Technical Assistant
Company Profile:
We are a technology based photography studio, specializing in the fine arts. Our specialty is photographing fine arts onto film and digital, as well as commercial studio/imaging projects. We maintain onsite photography & scanning equipment, and an assortment of digital printers for short run projects, large display printing, or ongoing artists editions.
Job description:
Administrative tasks: keeping up to date records of work progress, maintaining proper digital file architecture, keeping client and informational files organized and up to date, communicating with clients, artists and staff. Being generally organized and the ability to follow procedure.
Assisting in photography studio including: setting up/putting away sets and lighting, loading film, maintaining cameras and equipment, and doing copy-style photography.
Assisting in Digital Imaging department including: operating film and drum scanners, preparing files for delivery or output, either for giclee inkjet or offset lithography.
Skills:
familiarity with photography studio lighting
familiarity with camera and film formats, 35mm, 120, 4x5 and digital SLR, strobe studio lighting, ability to load 4x5 film holders
familiarity with Mac based network
Software: primarily: Photoshop, Mac OSX & Filemaker, secondarily: In Design , Quark, Illustrator, Image Print, Scanner software. Windows XP
Personal Qualities:
Excellent verbal and wriiten communication skills
Initiative and willingness to accept additional responsibility with experience
excellent knowledge of color and color theory
The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about current technology, adept at prioritizing, resourceful in troubleshooting/ resolving problems, able to stay focused in high-pressure situations with an interest in photography , digital imaging and fine art printing.
The individual must be exceptionally well-organized, detail–oriented, and possess superior time-management skills. Proven ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines is essential. He/She must be motivated and show a desire to accept more responsibility with ongoing experience.
He/She will work directly with clients, editors and fine artists so strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Applicants must have solid experience or education in digital imaging and have a passion for photography.
- Familiarity with a variety of photo & printing processes
- color correction skills, knowledge of RGB and CMYK color space
